Thales to supply two simulators for new Russian training centre

Thales has been selected to supply two Airbus A320 full flight simulators for S7 Airlines, Russia's largest air carrier by the number of transported passengers on domestic aviation routes.
Both Full Flight Simulators (FFS) will be installed in S7 Airlines training centre at Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport, a brand new facility, opening in October 2008. These will be the first FFS for the training operation and will be configured for full Level D certification. Level D is the highest level of approval for FFS's under International Aviation Authority regulations. The first FFS will be Ready for training in December 2008 and the second FFS in Q4 2009

"The first of these simulators will be only the second Level D FFS in all of Russia" noted Oleg Vasiliev, Director of the S7 Airlines training facility, adding " this inclusion of the simulators in our new training centre demonstrates our determination to provide the safest, most modern and efficient crew training" "We selected Thales to fulfil this contract because of their flexible approach and commitment to service provision".

Thales is also currently working with the Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi, to supply and support training equipment for the Superjet100.
