Security solutions for the Skikda industrial complex (which includes a refinery, a petrochemicals plant and a desalinisation plant)
Aimed at improving workforce and infrastructure security, the Thales designed solution will be capable of withstanding the extreme environmental conditions that prevail in this industrial port area (high humidity, saline environment and high temperatures). The solution includes:
· An access control system featuring portable hand-held reading devices for scanning hundreds of employees.
· A video-surveillance system with more than 250 CCTV cameras.
· A 50-km fibre-optic IP network. Improved operational safety for oil pipelines in Western Algeria
The contract includes protection systems for 20 pumping stations that serve the network of pipelines covering 10 regions, including the operator's head office in Arzew (in the north of the country). Thales will design and implement integrated security and supervision systems based on its Sathi solution deployed at each pumping station:
· Perimeter intrusion detection systems, comprising tens of miles of intrusion detection fencing.
· A video-surveillance system incorporating more than 800 CCTV cameras.
· The Carmetrics Ô automatic vehicle identification system, which will be installed at the entrance to sensitive zones.
Protecting the gas pipeline in Southern Algeria
Thales will deploy a similar system to the one supplied to protect the oil pipelines in the west of the country in order to improve security along the gas pipeline that covers 11 regions.
"These three contracts illustrate Thales's ability to deploy solutions that precisely meet the exacting security requirements of the oil & gas industry," says Alain Delecroix, VP, Managing Director of Thales Security Systems.
A leading supplier of mission critical systems, Thales has provided supervision, control and security solutions to the global energy sector for over 25 years.
